The Fox Theatre
When was it built?
The vision was initially conceived by the Shriners organization in 1928 for their HQ, but was completed by movie mogul William Fox in 1929 on Christmas Day with the premiere of Disney’s Steamboat Willie

Where is it located?
In Midtown at 660 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30308

Who built it?
The Shriners vision for the Fox was so elaborate, costing about $40 million in today’s dollars, that they could not afford to pay for its completion and so had to lease the auditorium to William Fox, who had made a fortune building movie theatres across America

How Big is it?
250,000 SF and the auditorium can hold 4,665 people

What’s Unique about this Place?
The auditorium contains the largest Moller theatre organ in the world, called “Mighty Mo,” with 3,622 pipes that you can enjoy before the show. It’s also one of the few remaining historical buildings in Atlanta with ornate architecture and decorations, stained glass windows, and a cobalt “sky” ceiling in the auditorium with a sea of twinkling stars. The architecture was heavily influenced by the Alhambra in Spain and Temple of Kharnak in Egypt
